Ongoing Psychiatric Care & Medication Management
For women seeking an ongoing psychiatric treatment relationship, I offer comprehensive initial evaluations followed by regularly scheduled medication management appointments. Treatment begins with a detailed review of your psychiatric and medical history, current symptoms, reproductive goals, previous treatments, and lifestyle factors. Together, we will develop an individualized plan that may include psychiatric medication, therapeutic interventions, and evidence-informed integrative strategies.Follow-up visits allow us to assess your progress, monitor medication efficacy and tolerability, discuss changes in your reproductive health, and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
My approach to medication management is therapeutic in nature, incorporating psychodynamic understanding and supportive interventions into our conversations. However, these visits are not intended to replace ongoing psychotherapy when more intensive therapeutic support is needed.
Initial evaluation: 90 minutes ($450) | Follow-up visits: 25 minutes ($175) or 50 minutes ($300)
One-Time Reproductive Psychiatry Consultations
You do not need to become an ongoing patient to benefit from a specialized reproductive psychiatry consultation.
I offer one-time consultations for women who are planning pregnancy, currently pregnant, or breastfeeding and would like an individualized assessment of their psychiatric treatment options. These consultations may be particularly helpful if you are wondering whether to continue, discontinue, or modify your current psychiatric medication regimen during pregnancy or lactation. During our consultation, we will review your psychiatric history, previous treatment response, current medications, reproductive plans, and relevant medical information. We will discuss the available evidence regarding medication exposure, the potential risks of untreated psychiatric illness, and the possible benefits and limitations of different treatment approaches. Following our discussion, I can provide recommendations to help guide your treatment decisions and, with your permission, communicate those recommendations to your existing psychiatrist, obstetrician, or other healthcare provider. It should be noted that prescriptions will not be written by me during this visit; acting as a consultant, I will convey medication recommendations to your existing prescriber.
A one-time consultation does not require you to transfer your ongoing psychiatric care to my practice.
Comprehensive consultation: 90 minutes | $450
Perinatal Psychotherapy at Patel Mind and Body
In addition to reproductive psychiatry, Patel Mind and Body offers in-house psychotherapy specifically focused on the perinatal period.
Our perinatal therapist, Caitlin Tucker PLPC, provides individual and group counseling for women navigating infertility, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and the emotional challenges associated with the transition to motherhood.
Patients may participate in psychotherapy independently or in conjunction with psychiatric care. For women receiving medication management through my practice, in-house therapy offers an additional opportunity for coordinated care and communication between providers.
